The basket with flames coming out of it is supposed to be the focal point of this picture but I was tryinng to be respectful. This was on the 2nd day of the lunar month and many businesses had shrines in front of their stores with burning insence and ghost money for the gods to bring good luck.
Lungshan Temple. Originally built in 1738, but destroyed and rebuilt numerous times over the years, most recently in 1945 during the war. The temple is dedicated to Kuanyin, the goddess of mercy.
